My aneurism ruptured 6 years ago the coil embolization was done then, and was repeated after 3 months and then checked annually for a few years. Last year I was told I was good for 3 years. My VP shunt was done in 1996 and I've had no problems with it. Just check with your neurologist/radiologist about follow up neuro-angiograms, my experience is that you do need them. Also, my doc told me that people who have had one brain aneurism have an increased chance of developing another. Joy!
