I had iron injections after the birth of my son that absessed after a bout of the flu ten days later. It was excruitating and I could barely walk for weeks. Those spots are still tender at times even though it has been 37 years! In my experience, Tetanus is a problemmatic shot and usually causes a lot of soreness.
