Dilated Cardiomyopathy

Jesse (Nick) Guidry

Message 3 of 6 Previous Next

Hi Peggy, my name is Nick, I am 44 years old and I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Dilated Cardiomyopathy and Class II CHF about 18 months ago. A heart cat done in the Hospital put me at an EF of 32%. Today, with all of the medications that I have been taking since that day, (coreg, lotensin, lasix, aldactone, norvasc, & tricor) my EF is at about 38%. Although I fatigue easily, I do feel much better than I did 8 months ago.It took about a year for me to adjust to the medications.I won't lie to you, it was very hard for the first six months. I actually felt worse and came real close to filing for disability. But I hung in there and I am glade that I did. Your husband will have to change his lifestyle and eating habits but things will get better as he adjusts. Tell him not to give up and to keep a good and positive attitude towards things and he will be fine.
