Before I underwent surgery, I would definitely check with a chronic pain clinic. Sciatica problems can cause nerve damage. I also suffered from problems from a loose sciatic joint. When I developed other pain problems, my doctor sent me to such a clinic, where the doctor said my pain was definitely nerve pain. He gave me prescriptions and from the first day I have been pain free. Your problem may not be the same thing, but I'd think it's worth trying.
