I've heard that chronic constipation can be a symptom of insuffient thyroid function. Have your doctor do a bunch of tests for thyroid function. Otherwise lots and lots of fiber and lots and lots of water. Cut out white-flour, bread, rice, pasta, white potatoes and cut out sugar. Make sure bread has at least 3 gm of fiber and eat beans, lentils, regular oatmeal in the morning (not 1 min or instant)and LOTS of fresh fruits and vegetables. Most of the time this is diet related. Remember-keep a bottle of water on your desk at work at all times and keep refilling it. Exercise helps as well-even 15 min of brisk walking at lunchtime. Good luck.
