hi anne. i have the same problem almost exactly. i have tried oral steroids and heat therapy, so far, still hurting. i am 27, one doctor suggested no surgery for me due to my age. i am concerned and afraid and i don't want to go thru what you have been thru. i would like to talk to you via email if possible. some say the surgery is fabulous, while others say they hurt worse than they ever imagined. i am confused and clueless. you can write me at nyte_crawler@webtv.net, thanks, and god bless you anne. tonia
