I too have been diagnosed with SMS by the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ. I tested positive to glutamic Acid decarboxylase, which, in my case, made the diagnosis firm. I do not know whether this is a necessary test. The diagnosis was made 3 yrs. ago, and I am taking Valium which helps prevent the spasms, but the effect of the medication is losing its effectiveness. Usually, Mayo is a excellent place to get a diagnoses, but unfortunately I too have not been abe to get help, although I am trying alternative medicine, which has not helped so far.
