14 days is the average time if child has not had chicken pox vaccine. Or until all spots are healed and not oozing. My daughter had CP shot and still got mild case They did not pop open and went away in less than 7 days. I still kept her home from school for a full week. Traditional pox require at least 2 weeks out of school and a doctors note
