Hi Pam: I just got out of the hospital two days ago. I had cellulitis on my hand and up my arm. I was in for 5 days. It's very scary, but you do need to do exactly what the doctor's tell you to do. IV anti-biotics was the only thing that helped me. My infection was too serious to just take oral anti-biotics. I feel much better now and I was on IV anti-biotics for 5 days straight. Now I am on oral anti-biotics for another 7 days just to make sure the infection is not there anymore. I had a fever and about 8 or 9 red lines going up my arm to my armpit. It was very scary. But, I am better now. I am learning to use my hand again, since it was so sore, I could not use it. I suggest you either get a second opinion or demand that your doctor put you on IV anti-biotics to help the situation. The oral pills are not strong enough for you! Please, take it from the voice of experience.!! A few days in the hospital is better than no days on earth!!! Good luck and take care of yourself!
