I have thallesemia minor. I never had problems until I was pregnant. Then I had severe anemia, shortness of breath, & extreme tiredness. I had to have my blood tested every 6 weeks to see if I would need a blood transfusion. I made sure I ate foods high in Iron every day & that made me symptoms go away. I ate pumpkin seeds, drank soy milk & ate a ton of red meat. I also made sure I ate lots of green vegetables to get the other vitamins my body was lacking. That helped me. I make sure now when I am menstrating that I eat red meat that week.
