Dear Doctor I would like to take an opportunity to introduce myself . I am ARPITA KACKAR, 27 years old. I am suffering from Primary Muscle Dystrophy(MYOPATHY).This disease is not from birth rather when I was around 9 years old my parents noticed that while walking I used to keep my feet 3 inches above the ground.Gradually I started having difficulty in getting up from the ground and climbing stairs.Through Biapsy in Bombay Hospital Dr.B.S Singhal Neurophysician diagnosed the disease and that time he told that its only treatment was Physiotheraphy.In Jaipur my Tendon Lengthening was even done by Dr.Sethi but which was of no help.We are three sister I am the middle one both of them are perfectly normal and do not have any family history of myopathy neither parental or maternal side.Gradually my condition is deteriorating day by day.My father who was himself a doctor (he expired three years back) tried all sorts of treatment which were available from accupuncture, accupressure,yoga -therapy etc. I would like to describe my present condition: 1) Now while walking I keep both my feet above the ground ie I totally walk on my toes. 2) It has become tatally impossible for me to walk without any support though while walking I do not use any crutches. 3) I cannot get up from ground and climb stairs on my own accord. 4) I cannot take my hands above my head ,nor I can lift heavy weight though I can write or do other easy tasks quite easily. 5) Due to distortion in walking the shape of my spinal has turned like If there is any kind of treatment or information regarding this disease please let me know .Your valuable suggestion would be highly appreciated.
